Hampton feels like it is deep in the country rather than a well linked town in west/south London. Cardinal Wolsey decided to buy a large mansion and develop it, Know known as Hampton Court and Bushey Park. This gave rise to 'The Hamptons' which sprang up as a result of the displaced residents needing somewhere else to live. It has many large houses but also purpose built new flats and apartments have been built.

Hampton has extremely good road and rail links into London. It also has the M3 right on its doorstep which gives great access to the M25. There are a number of bus routes available to all the surrounding areas like Kingston and Heathrow Airport.
